Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace

The Summer Palace History

In the Bangalore Fort, Tipu Sultan's Palace got constructed between 1781 and 1791 while he was the monarch of Mysore. Hyder Ali oversaw and directed the construction, which began in 1781, and the palace was finished by 1791. The fort served as Tipu Sultan's summer house and headquarters while he was in Bangalore

The British took the palace and fort after the fourth Anglo-Mysorean War when the Mysorean ruler passed away in 1799. The British utilized the palace as a secretariat until moving to Attara Kacheri. The Indian Archaeological Survey received the historical monument after Independence.

The Summer Palace architecture

The Summer Palace is an example of Indo-Saracenic architecture. The two-story palace has wooden pillars with stone bases and was constructed out of wood, teak, stone, and plaster. These components were in sheets of gold and beautiful precious stones. The throne got disassembled and sold in pieces when the British invaded Tipu Sultan's Palace after his death in 1799.
